Our Mission and Beliefs
The Holy Catholic Church (HCC) is an independent autocepholous (self-governing) church.
- Our clergy are ordained within apostolic succession.
- We celebrate the seven sacraments.
- We ordain men and women.
Our Mission is Catholic and Ecumenical
The Holy Catholic Church is a constituent member of Christ's one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. Our role within the Universal Church is to build up the Reign of God on earth by calling people to Christ through Baptism and the Eucharist as well as the five other sacraments -- especially who are poor, disenfranchised, marginalized, or have become unchurched; supporting all God's children as much as is possible on their spiritual journeys and doing this in a non-judgmental way; seeking and assisting with reconciliation between Christian denominations; and promoting and participating in ecumenical activities with members and congregations of varied faiths.
We recognize that the Church needs to be in a constant state of reformation -- responding to and being led by the collective wisdom and witness of its members and the world in which we function, responding to societal challenges for the betterment of human rights and all creation.
Our Beliefs
What are the fundamental beliefs of the HCC?
Our beliefs are creedal in nature. We are guided by the creedal statements of the Ecumenical Councils of the Universal Church. (Nicaea, Constantinople, Ephesus and Chalcedon). The Nicene Creed is accepted as our definition of Christianity. The Athanasian Creed is the accepted definition of the Holy Trinity and the person of Christ. The Apostles Creed provides us the apostolic teachings of the Christian faith necessary for salvation. What other catholic doctrine guides your beliefs?
We abide by the Ecumenical Councils (Nicaea, Constantinople, Ephesus and Chalcedon). The Canons resulting from these Councils guide our Church
